SHINee - Sherlock
I like the dancing. It’s interesting to see an Eastern mix to a Western idea.
Another “Thank You” (감사합니다) subclip. This one is pretty funny, too. :)
Some culture notes:
- Breaking tiles with the head is a Korean custom used in 태권도 (Taekwondo). It’s called “Physical Show” where one shows off his physicality. Before breaking the tiles, a referee must say “Challenge.” The goal is to break through all tiles.
- Girls’ Generation (SNSD) is an all-female Korean band consisting of 9 members. They were in the audience for this one, and the actors had sung their song (in the later part of the clip).
This is another segment of the show, called “Thank You” (감사합니다). Basically, these three guys talk about things that they’re thankful for. They also spoof songs, movies, and the like. It’s super funny. :)
A few culture notes:
- Kim Miyeong, I’m guessing, is a famous person with a lot of money.
- A guy must ask for permission to marry a woman’s daughter. If they reject, they offer an envelope with money for their troubles.
So I’ve been browsing YouTube and I came across this thing called the Korean Gag Comedy.
It’s subbed in English so you can understand it (they speak pretty fast), but the things they say are hilarious. This clip is a segment of the show, called “Reality,” where they attempt to portray what’s depicted in shows, dramas, commercials, etc. from Korea and explain what’s reality and what isn’t. It’s pretty funny. :)
